Katherine Frank is a cultural anthropologist (Ph.D. Duke University, 1999), fiction writer, and former exotic dancer. She is the author of G-Strings and Sympathy: Strip Club Regulars and Male Desire (2002), an exploration of the motivations and experiences of the heterosexual male customers of strip clubs, and co-editor of Flesh for Fantasy: Producing and Consuming Exotic Dance (2006). She has also written on eating disorders, gender, pornography, feminism, and monogamy and has published articles in Sexualities, Journal of Sex Research, Archives of Sexual Behavior, Qualitative Inquiry and Deviant Behavior, among others. She is currently an SSRC Sexuality Research postdoctoral fellow in the sociology department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, researching the ways that contemporary American couples negotiate sexual exclusivity in marriage, and a Faculty Associate in cultural anthropology at the College of the Atlantic. She is also working on an ethnography of contemporary 'swinging' couples which explores the links between sexuality and leisure in addition to the cultural meanings of sex, love, and intimacy.
