Carey graduated from Xavier University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Widener University in 2003 with a Masters in Adult Education, and Widener University in 2005 with a Doctorate in Human Sexuality Education. Carey has vast experience in pediatric nursing, pediatric primary care, and labor and delivery. Her combined nursing, education and sexuality background has provided her with a variety of perspectives from which to teach.She co-taught a Human Sexuality Course at Montgomery County Community College along with Susan Kaye, Ph.D. Carey has guest lectured on the community college and university level on such topics as sexual/reproductive anatomy, contraception, sexual dysfunction and treatment. She has also written several curriculums for teaching parents and college students about sexuality. Carey's research has focused on Nurses’ Perceptions of Addressing Sexuality in the Pediatric, Critical Care Population. She is a member of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS) and the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). |
